Verse for the Day 02-5-2020

Verse of the Day

Deuteronomy 8:10-11

When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not [ignore, cease to care] the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

Realizing that God puts us in a place where we can live and be satisfied, we should bless Him, by an act of praise. However, we have to guard ourselves from ignoring God through acts of disobedience by not doing what He's told us to do.

Make it a thankful day!

Verse for the Day 02-4-2020

Verse of the Day
1 Corinthians 9:25

And every man that striveth for the mastery [contends with adversaries, struggle with difficulties] is temperate [self controlled] in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Likewise, when people are competing against their adversaries in earthly contests, they control themselves in everything they do. They do it to be in good shape to win a perishable prize. We have to control ourselves so that we're in good shape for fighting against our adversaries and difficulties. It's so that we can win an eternal prize.

Make it a wonderful day!

Psalm 16:1-2

Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in Thee do I put my trust. O my soul, Thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth [is inferior to, not above] not to Thee [apart from, separated from];

God, please protect us and keep us safe, because we've put all of our confidence you as our place of safety. Our goodness is inferior and nothing apart from You.

Verse for the Day 01-31-2020

Verse of the Day
Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in [a relation of rest] Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Since we're now in an intmate relationship with Jesus Christ, we are no longer condemned, because we're living our life by the Spirit instead of by our human nature. So, the obligations required by the Spirit of life, freed us from the obligations required by sin and death.

Galatians 3:13

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

We've been freed from the curse of being unable to fulfill the work obligation that's necessary to be right in God's estimation. Christ became that curse in our place. It's written that "anyone who hangs on a tree is accursed."

2Peter 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Through God's divine power, He has given us everything we need regarding living and living a godly life. The realization of this divine power comes as a result of our intimate knowledge of Jesus. He's the One, Who has allowed us to bear His name in dignity and excellence.

Verse for the Day 01-28-2020

Verse of the Day
James 4:13-15 (13,15)

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

Come on now, when we arrogantly say that we're going to this city or that city, we'll stay there for a year, do business and be profitable. Since our life is just like a fine mist that comes and then goes away, we don't even know what's going to happen tomorrow. So instead, we should be humble and say, if the Lord allows, we will live and then, we can do what we've planned.

Make it a well lived day!

Verse of the Day
James 4:5-6 (6)

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth [greatly desires] to [toward] envy [corruption , defilement]? But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Are we thinking that the scripture doesn't have a purpose when it says, the spirit within us, greatly desires to keep us destroying ourselves. But, God says, He gives us more grace if we're humble, but He resists us if we're prideful.

For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order [character, dignity] , and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Deuteronomy 32:35-43).

My brothers and sisters, don't immediately take revenge into our own hands. Instead, let's control our impulse to retaliate. God told us that He will be the One to retaliate for His people.

I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart [inner man] is glad, and my glory [tongue, voice] rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Because we continually put the Lord first and because He is at our right side as our strength and direction, we won't waver or be moved. Our inner man is uplifted, our voices rejoice with joy and our bodies rest in confidence.

There are times when we need someone to just tell us to take a stand, not give in to fear and observe how God will be victorious on that day. Because of God's victory, the Egyptians (our current issues) that we've been joined to and observed, we won't perceive them the same way anymore.

Verse for the Day 01-16-2020

Verse of the Day
Mark 1:29-31

And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue [a formal assembly to pray, and listen to the reading and expositions of scripture], they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. And He came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

After leaving their assembly, they went to Simon's house where his mother-in-law was very sick. Immediately they told Jesus, Who healed her. After she was healed, she began to serve them.

And He [Jesus] arose, and rebuked [adminish] the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

We really talk to Jesus when we're panicking. We act like the discples who woke Jesus. Jesus got up, scolded the wind and told the sea to hold its peace. After things were calm again, Jesus asked the disciples, why did you panic and stop trusting God? When we panic, it could demonstrate our trust.

Romans 12:17-18

Recompense [give back what is do] to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Even though we might have every right to pay back something that someone did to us, we're to think about how paying the person back would be useful to both, that person and to the people who might see or hear about the situation. So, in spite of our strong inner motivation to act, if we're able to stay in control, we're to live in peace with everybody.

Psalm 11:1

To the chief Musician, A Psalm [a sacred song or recitation] of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

When we trust God, we have to then ask ourselves, why were we talking to ourselves anyway? Without trusting God, our natural sense of fear regarding, challenging situations and the unknown will tell us to get as far away as possible.

Verse of the Day
John 20:24-31 [v24-31]

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Jesus did so many miracles while with His disciples that they couldn't all be written in this book. So that we can know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the One Who gives us life through His power and authority we have the description of Thomas. Once Thomas saw and touched Jesus, he confessed that Jesus was his Lord and his God. Thomas believed because he saw Jesus, however, we are blessed because we believe without seeing Him.

Verse for the Day 12-5-2019

Verse of the Day
Luke 18:10-14

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican [tax collector]. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [declared innocent, acceptable to God] rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased [brought low, made humbled]; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

We should be like the tax collector especially, in our prayers. Because, the Pharisee prayed to himself while just using the word God but the tax collector actually prayed to God. The Pharisee listed his accomplishments but the tax collector begged for what he couldn't achieve. The Pharisee boasted about who he wasn't like but the tax collector, what he was. Then Jesus said that the tax collector was justified and considered righteous before God, while the Pharisee was still apart from God in his sin. When we're humble, we're made acceptable to God, but when we're proud we're humiliated by God.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

We are already in Satan's territory, so, in the same way a lion defends his territory against intruders, we have to be on guard, watching out so Satan doesn't sneak up on us.He wants to strengthen himself by making us his food. However, when we do encounter him, we withstand him through our firm conviction in God, realizing that our brothers and sisters are dealing with some of the same issues.

Verse of the Day
1 Corinthians 8:2-3

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

So, regarding things about idols, we have our knowledge about them which is based on what we've seen and what we've learned. But that knowledge can just make us proud. We really don't know anything the way it should be known, even though we know a lot about many things. But, what's important is that we are known by God and we are if we love Him.
